Smart Mom's Guide to Pregnancy and Baby's First Year

Being the first time mom that I am, all the mommies that I know of tend to give me advises that sometimes I really cannot swallow them all. With their different opinions and perspectives, sometimes it's overwhelming and I don't even know who to listen to anymore. I am not a superstitious believer either so it's really annoying for me hearing all those pamahiins. I really don't believe in them because I am the person who always needs scienific explanation on anything why it needs to be done and if I'm not satisfied then who cares.

I have this co-worker that has just given birth about 3 months ago and her baby spent one week in the hospital just because her mother-in-law had her baby drink her own urine. It infected the baby's blood and made my co-worker spent P41,000 to get her baby out of the dilemma. My co-worker was so pissed when she found out that the reason why her in-law did it was because of some superstitious belief that a baby will grow strong if she had a taste of her own urine. Her in-law even mentioned that her husband had the same experience when he was a baby but nothing bad happened to him. That's something I don't want to happen to my baby that's why I tried to find a book that can guide me during my pregnancy up to my baby's 1st year.

I found this book at a Mini Stop convenience store. It's called "Smart Mom's Guide to Pregnancy and Baby's First Year". It has a label of "Pinoy Essential" which indicates that it is based on our culture which is also great since most pregnancy books that you can find in bookstores are written based in foreign culture. In this book you'll find answers to questions such as "paglilihi" and how it is related to how the baby's going to look like when she comes out, even tips on how to hire a yaya, how to breastfeed if you are a working mom, all superstitious beliefs and pamahiins and dealing with needs and issues relevant to the Filipino family and culture that confuses most moms-to-be. So for all Pinay moms out there, this one is a must read.
